His research interests include electrocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis for reactions relevant to energy storage and conversion, wastewater degradation, electroanalytical chemistry, the recycling of critical elements, and more generally, the electrification of chemical processes. In these areas, he has also developed new investigative methodologies based on microelectrodes and X-ray absorption spectroscopies.<br>\nHe has spent periods as a visiting scientist in the USA, France, and Spain and has been invited to give seminars at prestigious universities (Stanford, Gothenburg, Southampton) as well as at numerous national and international conferences.<br>\nHis scientific contributions have resulted in the publication of about 100 articles and book chapters, two patents.
