His work combines advanced structural characterization methods (including SAXS, WAXS, NMR, and vibrational spectroscopy) with classical and ab initio molecular dynamics, enabling a multiscale understanding of structure\u2013property relationships in energy materials. Dr. Mariani has held research positions across major European institutions, including the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU), Elettra Synchrotron (Trieste), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble), and Elettra Sincrotone Trieste. His recent work has explored nanostructured electrolytes for lithium and zinc-based batteries, proton-conductive ionic liquids, and low-viscosity, fluorine-free systems for sustainable electrochemical technologies.
