Ilias (Louis) Kyratzis holds the position of Chief Research Consultant within CSIRO’s Manufacturing Research Unit. He has held various leadership roles with the organisation and is one of the organisational leaders in material science, fibre science, chemistry and waste recycling and upcycling.
His current research interests include nanofibre and nano-architectures in materials especially in their application to environmental remediation, energy, filtration, hybrid material upcycling and biomaterials and disease control, as well as flexible electronic textiles, flexible electronics, high performance, high strength materials for protective equipment. He currently leads several project teams in these areas.
He has published widely across different scientific disciplines including referred papers, patents and numerous industry reports.
He was a finalist of the Eureka Prize 2019 for Contributions to Defence Science and is Co-founder of the International Electrospinning Conference series which started in Melbourne in 2010
