Theodora Krasia-Christoforou

Dr.Rer.Nat.Theodora Krasia-Christoforou is a Professor and the Head of the Polymer Synthesis, Characterization and Processing Laboratories at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Cyprus. She received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Cyprus, (1999), a M.Sc. in Chemical Research and Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC) from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London in the U.K. (2000) and a Dr.Rer.Nat. in Physical Chemistry from the Max-Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (University of Potsdam) in Germany (2003). Her research activities are focused among others on the synthesis and characterization of functional polymer-based materials. She is particularly interested polymer-based nanohybrids and nanocomposites prepared in solution and at the solid state, while during the last decade she has been mainly focusing on the development of multifunctional materials via electrospinning. She has published 81 manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 11 book chapters (8 Invited) on topics related to the fabrication, characterization and applications of functional, polymer-based materials. She has been an active MC member of the COST Action MP1206 “Electrospun nano-fibres for bio-inspired composite materials and innovative industrial applications” and the Chairperson of the ESEE2025 (https://cyprusconferences.org/esee2025/), NANOSTRUC2023 (https://nanostruc.info/) and the ElectrospinCY_2017 International Conference on Electrospinning. She also serves as a Reviewer in ~50 peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, she secured funding on a National and European level via her participation either as a project coordinator or as a participant in more than 20 research projects (Group website: https://www.ucy.ac.cy/polymerlab/).
