She received a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Cyprus, (1999), a M.Sc. in Chemical Research and Diploma of the Imperial College (DIC) from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London in the U.K. (2000) and a Dr.Rer.Nat. in Physical Chemistry from the Max-Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (University of Potsdam) in Germany (2003). Her research activities are focused among others on the synthesis and characterization of functional polymer-based materials. She is particularly interested polymer-based nanohybrids and nanocomposites prepared in solution and at the solid state, while\u00a0during the last decade she has been mainly focusing on the development of multifunctional materials <em>via<\/em> electrospinning. She has published 81 manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals and 11 book chapters (8 Invited) on topics related to the fabrication, characterization and applications of functional, polymer-based materials. She has been an active MC member of the COST Action MP1206 \u201cElectrospun nano-fibres for bio-inspired composite materials and innovative industrial applications\u201d and the Chairperson of the ESEE2025 (<a href=\"https:\/\/cyprusconferences.org\/esee2025\/\">https:\/\/cyprusconferences.org\/esee2025\/<\/a>), NANOSTRUC2023 (<a href=\"https:\/\/nanostruc.info\/\">https:\/\/nanostruc.info\/<\/a>) and the ElectrospinCY_2017 International Conference on Electrospinning. She also serves as a Reviewer in ~50 peer-reviewed journals.
