


Catia Arbizzani
Catia Arbizzani is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Bologna. She graduated in Chemistry at the University of Bologna in 1987 and received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Pavia in 1991. Her research interests are in the field of materials for energetics and of the electrode/electrolyte/separator interphases, specifically related to lithium ion batteries, sodium ion batteries and lithium metal-based batteries. She is Editor of the Journal of Power Sources (Elsevier), Academic Editor of Batteries (MDPI) and member of Editorial Board of La Chimica e L’Industria. She is coauthor of more than 140 papers, 8 book chapters and 3 patents. She has been Regional Representative for Italy at International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) in 2019-2024 and takes part of WG1 and WG2 in BEPA. At the University of Bologna she serves as Delegate of the Department of Chemistry for the International Relations, as the Representative Member for Chemical Sciences (03 Area) in the Scientific Board of Institute of Advanced Studies and as a Member of Climate Energy and Mobility GTA for the topic “A competitive and sustainable European battery chain”. Since 2024 she has been Scientific Director of the E-Cells Joint Research Lab (UNIBO-Ferrari-NXP).
She was Co-PI (UNIBO Partner) of the FETOPEN-01-2016-2017 MAGNIFY (2018-2022) and PI (UNIBO Partner) in H2020 LC-BAT-4-2019 – CUBER (n. 875605)(2020-2024) and EIT Raw materials KAVA 8 CO2CARBON (Project no. 21081) (2021-2023). She has been PI since 2011 of annual and triennial Projects, up to the present PTR 2025-2027, in the frame of Italian Electrical System with ENEA. She is also PI of the PRIN 2022 Project BIONIC (2023-2025) and Responsible (INSTM-GISEL) of an AL in the Project ORANGEES (2024-2026) in the frame of Italian Electrical System.
