Saveria Santangelo (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1732-248X) is Associate Professor of Experimental physics of matter and applications (PHYS-03/A) at Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria University (UNIRC).
Currently, her research mainly focuses on the field of design, synthesis and analysis of nanostructured materials for energy-related applications (rechargeable alkali metal-ion batteries, catalysis and photocatalysis, capacitive water de-ionisation).
She is member the Italian Society of Physics, of the Italian Chemical Society /ENERCHEM and ACEE Inter-divisional Groups, of the National Inter-University Consortium for Materials Science & Technology (INSTM), of the Italian National Group for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems (GISEL) and UNIRC unit scientific manager of the GISEL-INSTM Italian National Reference Centre.
She is associate editor in Frontiers in Materials – Energy Materials (Frontiers media SA) and member of the editorial boards of Applied Sciences (MDPI) and Current Nanomaterials (Bentham Science).
She was UNIRC unit scientific manager of the 3-year PRIN project 2017MCEEY4 (TRUST, TowaRds sUstainable, high-performing, all-solid-State sodium-ion baTteries). Presently, she is UNIRC unit scientific manager of the 2-year PRIN project 20227YZZ9E (OPHELIA, OPerando studies of High-Entropy oxide-based active materiaLs for Na-Ion bAttery cathodes) and of the 3-year ITA-GER joint project DURALYS (DURAble, scalable, and recyclable components and cell designs for next generation alkaline exchange membrane water electroLYSis), and PI of the 2-year PRIN PNRR project P2022BHKRA (HEM4GREEN, High-Entropy Materials as cost-effective catalysts in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis for GREen hydrogEN production).
She has authored 192 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, has co-edited 2 books (GNSR2001, IOS Press; and Carbon, Springer) and has been ranked by Standford University among the “Top 2% Scientists of the world” for years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
