Lead partner & project coordinator
UniPD – Polymer Engineering Group (PEG)
Dating back to 1222, the University of Padova (UNIPD) is one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious seats of learning. UNIPD offers its 60,000 students 32 departments, 34 doctoral degree schools and 44 research and service centres across the spectrum of sciences, medicine, social sciences and humanities, with about 2,300 professors and researchers employed. The work will be carried out at the Department of Industrial Engineering which provides scientific and technical expertise in all fields of Industrial Engineering. The research group involved in the project (PEG) belongs mainly to Chemical and Process Engineering unit and has particular expertise in the field of polymer formulation development and characterization Role and Main tasks in the ProjectUniPD will coordinate the project and will be directly involved in the formulation, preparation and testing of the fire retarded polymers up to the pilot plant scale

.
CRF (Centro Ricerche Fiat)
Centro Ricerche FIAT (CRF) is an industrial research organisation providing R&D and innovation services for the different companies of the FIAT Group and its automotive suppliers. The core competence of CRF is centred on land transportation and advanced technologies, materials and processes. CRF is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories for the research, engineering, and testing of material, processes, and technologies, from long term research up to materials and processes validation and standardization, capable to guarantee a prompt transfer to the sectorial product design functions. Role and Main tasks in the ProjectCRF will contribute to the project in the go-to-market strategy, developing the prototypes and evaluating their suitability in operational environment
IRIS Ambiente
IRIS Ambiente is an italian company specialized in the processing Bottom ashes coming from the incinerators. It is owner of an italian patent relative to the their treatment through a mechanical treatment using state-of-the-art technologies. The minerals recovered at the end of their process find a second life (building and construction sectors) and can replace natural raw materials for sustainable development by becoming part of the circular economy. Role and Main tasks in the ProjectIRIS Ambiente will be involved in the WAPOL project as partner which has the know-how about treating haeavy ashes coming from municipal solid waste incineration to be employed as filler for plastic materials and therefore will be the supplier of bottom ashes.
VELAWORKS
VELAWORKS is a Slovak start-up company that is studying the reusing of materials coming from: waste, recycling, second life economy. It is the owner of the international trade mark COSMOS Fenix® and of the international patent related to the reuse of Fly Ashes coming from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration through the inertisation of heavy metals. It is also winner of 2 LIFE+ funds, 1 Horizon, 1 KAVA and “EIT-Raw Materials Best business idea 2017”. Role and Main tasks in the ProjectVELAWORKS will be involved in the WAPOL project as partner which has the know-how about reusing fly ashes to give the flammability resistance properties to polymers that can be used in the automotive sector. For this reason it will be the supplier of fly ashes with the possiblity to modify treatment process in order to provide optimal characteristics for fire retardant formulations.
