Patrick Theato

Patrick Theato studied chemistry at University of Mainz, Germany, and University of Massachusetts, Amherst USA, and obtained his doctorate degree from University of Mainz in 2001. After postdoctoral studies at Seoul National University, South Korea, and at Stanford University, USA, he completed his Habilitation at University of Mainz in 2007. From 2009 to 2012 he held a joint appointment at Seoul National University. In 2011, he accepted a prize senior lectureship at University of Sheffield, UK. From 2011 to 2017 he had been an W2 professor for polymer chemistry at University of Hamburg, Germany. Since 2017 he is full professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. His research interests include: precision polymer synthesis, post-polymerization functionalization, smart polymer materials, hydrogels, polymeric shape anisotropic nanoobjects, inverse vulcanization, sulfur containing polymers, functional polymer surfaces, materials for energy generation and storage.
