Roland Gauß
Roland Gauß is Head of Innovation and Business Intelligence at EIT RawMaterials, an EU Innovation Community of companies, universities, and research organizations in the raw materials sector. He is responsible for technology scouting and project portfolio analysis, focusing on technology upscaling projects and start-up support in Responsible Sourcing, Sustainable Materials, and Circular Economy.
He received his PhD from the University of Tübingen in 2008. His research interests are related to metallurgy, resource criticality, life cycles of materials, and innovation. He worked in rare earth magnets processing and recycling, the extractive metallurgy of copper, and geochemical fingerprinting. He was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at University College London, Head of Department at Fraunhofer IWKS, and joined EIT RawMaterials as Senior Advisor in 2016. He led the raw materials group of the European Battery Alliance in its initiation stage.
